Be the Protagonist

, by MARCY CARMACK | Edit
I first heard of Protagonist when I visited Vanessa Traina's boutique called The Line. Protagonist is one of the lines that is carried at The Line. Ha! I was intrigued by the name and then found out it is right up my alley. Included are beautifully executed wardrobe staples defined by the subtleties of form, fit and fabrication. As a fashion/wardrobe stylist: form, fit and fabrication are key.

Looks like Protagonist feels for a ski pant for Pre Fall. I agree it looks fresh again.
Here's a nod (maybe more than a nod) to the new larger silhouette.
More beautifully executed separates to keep in your wardrobe for years to come.
A spunky little vest gives a punch to the wardrobe.
A cropped flare still looks fresh.

If you want a beautifully made piece that will be a staple and one that you will have for years to come take a look at Protagonist. The name is easy to remember but may not be too easy to find yet. I know you can definitely find it at The Line in New York or LA.

The Apartment by The Line

, by MARCY CARMACK | Edit

The Line, which is relatively new to the online space, recently did a 3-month pop-up of their brick-and-mortar called The Apartment in Chicago. The Line is headquartered in New York with Apartments in Soho and LA. As the name suggests, the boutiques are well-staged apartments full of beautiful, unique and well curated objects. They offer everything that an apartment might need...beautifully packaged soaps, creams, perfumes and candles...dog accessories and clothing. The Apartment also has books and many objets D' art.

Popping up in Chicago on Oak street attached to the Waldorf Astoria was strategic for sales. I found it a bit hard to find (I'm new to Chicago) but loved it once I got there. The staff said The Line is looking to open a boutique in Chicago. That is what a pop up is for mainly -- to test the waters.

Vanessa Traina along with Kate and Morgan Wendelborn created The Line.

The moment I walked in The Apartment, I was swept away by the wafting of several different scented candles. With so many interesting and unique objects, it was no coincidence that they popped up for the holidays.

I left with a Maison Louis Marie candle and perfume oil No. 04 and I still want so much more. Come and visit them at the Waldorf Astoria through the end of January.
